Hill of Fare Windfarm Proposal
RES, on behalf of Dunecht Estates, have formally applied for permission to build 16 wind turbines on the plateau of Hill of Fare – these turbines will be between 180m-200m (590-656ft) high (to blade tip).
In October 2024, Aberdeenshire Council objected to the application, so triggering a public local inquiry.
The public inquiry for the Hill of Fare Windfarm application was held at the start of September 2025 in Banchory Town Hall – please see the Planning and Environmental Appeals Division website (link below) for further information.

SSEN are proposing constructing a new overhead powerline from Kintore to Tealing.
This will run through the easternmost part of the Community Council area as shown below and in the attached PDF.

The proposed pylons associated with this development will be higher than those currently in the area – from SSEN “The typical height for the ASTI SSE400 tower suite, the likely tower design for the Proposed Development, is approximately 57 m, with a maximum extension height of up to 70 m.”
